Our Story

A new place of relationship, Northwest Neighborhood Community Center (NNCC) is finding its beginnings in the spring of 2017!  However, the story starts 15 years ago...

In September of 2002, Crosswinds Community Church began in Bloomington, Illinois in a warehouse south of town.  In 2009, Crosswinds purchased a building in West Bloomington as an intentional act of moving into the neighborhood.  As Crosswinds grew into its new location, the question began to arise of "How do we connect with the neighborhood that God has placed us in?"  Out of this question came the Block Party in September of 2012, as well as relationships began to form with neighbors. Overeaters Anonymous had been using the Crosswinds facility for many years, and in 2015 Truth in Love Counseling moved in.  Shortly after, Alcoholics Anonymous, Can Do Kids, and Youth Outreach GLO became prominent partners with Crosswinds.

As ministries grew, so did this same question, "How do we better connect with the neighborhood that God has placed us in?" In March 2016, a group of ladies met to pray and seek God's guidance on how to truly connect with neighbors and best connect them with the resources available at Crosswinds.  God's answer to this group was clear - start a community center.

In September 2016, the ball began rolling on the Northwest Neighborhood Community Center.  As of April 2017, NNCC is a 501(c)3, and is seeking partners in the Bloomington/Normal community.  We are excited to see where God leads, and to partner with churches, organizations and neighbors to create safe space for neighbors to gather, grow and build relationship.

The story is just beginning... Will you be part of it?
